All You Need to Know About the New XUV300
Mahindra announced the launch of its new compact sub 4 metre SUV XUV300 in 2019. This Mahindra car is expected to launch in India on 15 February 2019. The Mahindra XUV300 will be competing against the like of Ford Ecosport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon This compact SUV is inspired by the larger car in Mahindra’s fleet i.e. XUV500 SUV.
The Mahindra XUV300 has been developed in Chennai at Mahindra’s Research Valley and it will be manufactured at Nasik and parts of Maharashtra. Mahindra has also confirmed that they will launch an electric version of XUV300 as well. The electronic version of Mahindra XUV300 will be developed under the tag S210 and will be launched in 2020. The XUV300 is designed in an understated manner like the popular on sale SUVs like Hyundai Creta and Vitara Brezza.
The Mahindra XUV300 is based on the X100 platform, which is also a base for SsangYong Tivoli. This sub four metre offering has the longest wheelbase as compared to any other sub four metre SUV in the world. The Mahindra XUV300 will be equipped with one of a kind features, some of them being first ever in the segment. This SUV will be completely equipped with disc brakes, automatic climate control and seven airbags. The will be positioned as a more premium product from the house of Mahindra and will be placed slightly on the higher end of the sub-four-metre SUV spectrum.
The new Mahindra XUV300 will be available in both petrol and Diesel variants. In the first phase, the XUV300 will be offered only in manual transmission mode and a front-wheel drivetrain. An automatic version is expected to follow later. The Mahindra XUV300 is expected to be powered with the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine which serves on the recently launched Mahindra Marazzo MPV. The engine is accomplished to achieve 121 bhp maximum power and 300 Nm of top torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox will carry out the transmission duties of this car.
The expected price of Mahindra XUV300 is expected to be in the range of Rs.8 to 11 lakh. It is priced more aggressively as compared to the competitors like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which is priced between Rs. 7.58 to 10.55 lakh while Tata Nexon ranges between Rs. 6.23 lakh to 10.67 lakh. Only Ford EcoSport starts from Rs. 7.82 and goes a little higher than Mahindra’s range at around Rs. 11.89 lakh.
Apart from the features mentioned above, Mahindra XUV300 will be well equipped with Sunroof, Larger DRLs, Dual Zone Air conditioners, 3 Rear Headsets, ESP, Cruise Control and leather seats.
