With 2018 coming to an end, it is time to look at what the new year holds in store for car lovers. This is especially true, given that 2018 saw some exciting new car launches, facelifts and new variants. So, here’s a look at the four most anticipated upcoming cars in India for 2019.

Nissan Leaf

A compact five-door hatchback, Nissan Leaf is one of the best-selling electric cars in the world. It is expected to be launched in India in March 2019. Nissan Leaf boasts an improved 40 kWh battery, which can take you nearly 400 km on a single charge. It runs on an electric motor that produces 150PS of power and 320Nm of torque, 38% and 25% higher, respectively, than its predecessor. ProPilot autonomous driving and ProPilot Park are the standout features of the Nissan Leaf. For safety, it boasts features like Lane Departure Warning Intelligent Lane Intervention, Intelligent Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition and more.

Tata Harrier

“Wow” is the only word that justifies the beauty of Tata Harrier. An all-new five-seater SUV, Tata Harrier is a highly anticipated new car in India. Tata showcased the H5X concept at the 2018 Auto Expo, which was the concept version of the Harrier. The company should be commended for keeping the production version immensely close to the concept version. The beast is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine (FCA-sourced) and runs on a similar diesel motor as the Jeep Compass. This vehicle is set to be launched in January 2019, with speculations of a seven-seater version to be launched later.

Jeep Wrangler

An American automobile brand, Jeep has been the iconic sport utility vehicle and off-road vehicle brand for more than 70 years now. Currently, the brand offers 3 models for sale in India, the Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler. In 2019, Jeep is expected to launch the next gen Compass, Cherokee, Wrangler and Renegade. A giant SUV with 18-inch alloy wheels, the Wrangler is the quintessential jeep, powered by a new 2.2-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, both mated to 8-speed automatic transmission. You’ll also love the significant upgrades to the equipment, with various fuel efficient power train options.

New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

With the aim of making the Ertiga much more desirable, Maruti Suzuki has launched a new Ertiga after 6 years of making significant changes. In comparison with the current model, the new Ertiga is slightly wider and longer. Even the wheels will be 16 inches, accompanied by a high set nose. The increased length offers more space and comfort to the passengers, especially in the third row. It is expected to get engine variants of 1.5-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel.

With so many new cars expected in India in 2019, it certainly seems to be a very happy new year!
