Luxury BMW SUVs you can expect in India in 2019
BMW, the luxury car manufacturer from Germany has booked 2019 for launching new cars in India, all year round! In addition to entry-level and luxury sedans, 2019 will mark the debut of BMW X2 2019, BMW X5 2019 and BMW X7 2019; all of which are placed as luxury SUVs by BMW. Here is a quick review.
MW X2 2019
The X2 SUV rides high on 18-inch alloy wheels, with the 19-inch option available. The new X2 has a fresh interpretation of BMW’s signature kidney grille design. X2 will be available with two engine options, 2.0L petrol unit with 189bhp and 2.0L diesel unit with 187bhp. The interiors comprise of decent room and space for passengers. The driving position is excellent, coupled with multi-function steering wheel and 3 driving modes viz. comfort, sport and eco-pro.
The cabin includes an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports all major functions including the iDrive. X2 is also loaded with ample safety features like lane departure warning, speed limit warning, automatic high beam and collision warning (front + pedestrian).
BMW X5 2019
The X5 is a slightly larger beast than the X2. This is visible with the prominent, massive kidney grille that forms X5’s face. The new headlamp cluster including the laser light tech and the new ‘open twin rings’ adds the right proportion of glamour to the BMW X5 2019. This 4th gen model is 35mm longer, 32mm wider and 11mm taller than its predecessor.
X5 is available in India with two diesel engines viz. xDrive 30d Sport and xDrive 30d xLine. India will also be getting the X5 xDrive 40i, a 3.0L in-line petrol engine that generates 333bhp.
X5 cabin gets a digital instrument console called the BMW Live Cockpit Professional displaywith a floating infotainment system, iDrive and Android + Apple CarPlay compatibility. Other features include Gesture Control, Voice Command, Four Zone Climate Control, Wireless Charging, Panoramic Sunroof, Screen for Rear Passengers and Ambient Lighting.
BMW X7 2019
The X7 is the auto giant’s new flagship SUV, this one being the largest of all its SUV offerings. The X7 shares its underpinnings with the 7 Series, with the same CLAR architecture. Most prominent is the huge kidney grille, which is the largest among all BMW cars, marking the dominance of X7 on Indian roads. X7 is also the first BMW to sport a three-row seating arrangement and is a comfortable, 7-seater; practically making it a luxurious family SUV.
X7’s cabin comprises of 12.3-inch dual screens for instrument as well as infotainment consoles, new-gen iDrive unit, gesture control, wireless charging, BMW Personal Assistant and Harman Audio System.
The new car launch by BMW India will be offering the X7 xDrive 40i with 3.0L, six-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol engine; robust enough to generate 335bhp and 450nm torque. It will also be bringing in the X7 xDrive M50d that will be equipped with 3.0L, six-cylinder, twin-turbo diesel engine; producing 394bhp power and 760nm peak torque. Both the engines will be mated with an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
